About me

My name is Kari Coleman and I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in December 2020, with my bachelor’s degree in Human Relations. I am the oldest of my five siblings and enjoy spending time with them. My favorite color is red and lions are my favorite animals. I have a Yorkie puppy named Chino, who is a ball of energy. I enjoy playing video games, reading books, and having some alone time. Since being the oldest I have always been helping others so I feel like this degree was perfect for me.

I was a transfer student coming from Collin College with my associate’s degree in accounting. I wanted to pursue my bachelor’s degree in accounting from OU but plans changed. I changed my major to human relations because I knew I wanted to be in a field where I could help people.

I have a background in Information Studies from taking courses at the university and from my internship with Norman Public School District in the technology department. I help with the computers at Norman North high school, by updating and checking the programs for the students and teachers. I make tickets for the broken laptops and check out new ones. I fix the laptops on the issues that I know how to fix. My internship has helped me with my people skills by communicating with students, teachers, and parents. Human Relations is also about your communication skills so having this opportunity has helped me with those skills.

Having a degree in Human Relations helps me understand what I want to with my future and the different job opportunities. I plan on going to graduate school to get my master’s degree in social work. I want to become a social worker and try to make the foster care system easier and safer for children and families. I do not know where I want to go to graduate school just yet, but I plan on applying to multiple schools for Fall 2021.
