About me

Welcome to my E-Portfolio! My name is Madison Barnett and I am a Human Relations major at the University of Oklahoma.

I am from a small town that lies in a valley and has a deep history in art, invention, and progress. Being a native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, I had access to the wonderful opportunities that the small town has to offer, including a large art scene. I spent the majority of my youth participating in fine arts such as choir and visiting the art and history museums around town. My exposure to art led me to explore different countries, cultures, and ideas, thus sparking an interest in diversity and inclusion. This interest drew me to the Human Relations program at the University of Oklahoma, where social justice, diversity, and inclusion were major pillars of the degree.

Since starting my college journey in the fall of 2018, I have grown as a person and as a Human Relations major. I developed a strong interest in women’s issues and LGTBQ rights, and have since taken many supplementary courses to enhance my knowledge in these areas. Once I was fully enveloped into the HR program, I decided I wanted to participate more and became the Administrative Coordinator for the Student Society For Human Relations, a student organization designed to connect HR students, develop professional skills, and provide volunteer opportunities.

My time at the University of Oklahoma highlighted where my passions lie, and I hope to use the knowledge I have acquired through my degree to create a more inclusive and supportive workplace.
