Although it may sound somewhat cheesy, the purpose of Human Relations at OU is to better understand yourself so you are able to better understand others. Human Relations is the study of how people interact with each other based on their differences such as race or sexual preference, as well as how those interactions play out in the social world. The overall idea and goal of Human Relations at OU is to provide students with the knowledge and confidence to create a safe and inclusive world for people of different backgrounds. Personally, Human Relations has taught me how to approach more difficult topics with a mind open to acceptance, diversity, and inclusion.
